Very Similar native range as the Baikal Teal. As of 2021 season these no longer require a permit to keep in Canada.
Although their name suggest they are a small Teal their are actually more closely related to the Widgeons and Gadwall. Here at Penners and Feathers we keep these closely related species in separate breeding pens. They prefer to nest in thick cover, sometimes using a ground box. There name is derived from the long unusual curved feathers on there wings, that resemble the curved beaks of Falcons.
Our current breeding stock is from birds purchased from Europe, Ontario and Quebec.
