Also known as the Himalayan Monal the Impeyan is one of the most brilliant of all the pheasants. When they color in the second year the males have a metallic shining plumage. These are high mountain birds preferring cold weather to our hot summers. Care must be taken to give them adequate shade during the summer.
They can be a very long lived bird if cared for in a proper manner. We had one male that lived to be 18 years old.
